The first official day of the book tour in Wilmington, North Carolina was absolutely perfect! The day started at noon at Pomegranate Books, where I finally got to meet owner Kathleen Jewell, a true supporter of Southern writers, especially those from North Carolina. The night ended with an interview at WHQR Studios, the NPR affiliate in Wilmington. In between the two events, I got to spend time with my family and my in-laws, show some love for the Cape Fear Literacy Council, and hang out with one of my literary heroes: Clyde Edgerton. (more…)
Books on the Side - Wilmington, NCMay 14, 2012
I woke up this morning in Wilmington, North Carolina, which is just about the best place to wake up in this country. I love this city; my brother Cliff lives here, my in-laws live here, my parents live close by, and I met my wife here seven years ago this month. I'm not originally from Wilmington, but it sure seems that way sometimes. (more…)
