Writing is hard. Let’s do it together.

Over the years I’ve worked with everyone from New York Times bestselling novelists to Grammy Award winning musicians to memoirists finding their voice to attorneys preparing their closing arguments: Anything narrative-driven. I’ve also worked with writing students at all levels, from community writing groups to graduate students, many of whom have gone on to land multi-book deals with major publishing houses. Below are the thoughts of a few folks whose manuscripts have passed through my hands.

“Your critique is one of the best I have ever received (even better than my agent’s, and I thought she was impressive!), and I thank you very much.” – Melissa S.

“ ... this is the most comprehensive, articulate, and constructive feedback I’ve ever gotten, and I’ve gotten a lot of feedback over the years.” – Kirk K.

“This is by far the best feedback I’ve ever gotten on a story. I mean that.” – Daniel W.

“I left this experience feeling energized, inspired, and more clear-headed about where to go.” – Caroline L.

“Here is an opportunity to engage one-on-one with a New York Times bestselling author, a fellow writer with the heart of a teacher, someone who sees you as part of a writing community. This is collaboration about you, and for you and your writing.” – Phil S.

I’ve written and published four bestselling novels of my own with William Morrow/HarperCollins, and I’ve also published dozens and dozens of essays and short stories in magazines and literary journals. I have a Ph.D. in American literature with two decades of experience teaching creative writing and English on the university level. All that to say this: Given my experience as a writer, teacher, and editor, as well as my knowledge of the publishing industry, I believe I’m uniquely qualified to help you improve your manuscript.
